Career Counselling at DPS-MIS |
As an endeavour to expose students to exciting careers, DPS-Modern Indian School recently held a career workshop for students of class X, XI and XII. The workshop served as an orientation into the exciting career of Chartered Accountancy. |

The workshop started off with a formal
welcome address and introduction of the presentation team by Senior
Activity Coordinator Mrs. Mou Bera, followed by an address by
Chapter Secretary CA Valiyakath Sheji. CA MI Farid and CA Rajeswar
Sundaresan delivered Motivational speeches and highlighted the
requirements for becoming a Chartered Accountant, how to become an
Accounting Technician and how to become a CA even after becoming an
Accounting Technician. The Workshop concluded with a question answer session. Students got an opportunity to clear their doubts about Chartered Accountancy. |
Brief Profile of the Speakers |
Mohammed Ikhlas Farid, is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He is the GM – Finance & Administration with KEMCO, Electrical & Mechanical Contractors in Qatar for over last 3 decades. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in Science and Law in addition to qualifying as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. An active member of the Toastmasters fraternity in Qatar, M. I. Farid was the Founder president of the ICC-One Toastmasters. Besides being awarded the “Outstanding Toastmaster of Year” in 2006-7, was also recipient of the “Best Division Governor” award in the year 2008-9. He moved on to obtain the coveted DTM award in Toastmasters. His extrovert personality and sheer determination and commitment opened doors for many social and cultural organizations. He established the Indian Community Benevolent Fund (ICBF) and the Indian Cultural Center (ICC) along with the stalwarts of the community, which today benefits the community of Doha at large. His philanthropic nature was aptly recognized when he was rightly awarded “M.KANJANI-ICBF Award” in the year 2005, for the services to the community over the past years. He has been involved not only in the cultural arena but education being his passion, has seen him at the helm of success. He is the founder member of the Ideal Indian School, the DPS-Modern Indian School and the founder and the Past Chairman of the Qatar Chapter of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Rajeswar Sundaresan is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Information Systems Auditor, a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Control Self-Assessor, a Certified Financial Statement Assessor and a Certified Government Auditing Professional. He is the Group Manager – Internal Audit for the Teyseer Group of Companies. In the professional capacity he has served as Past Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Qatar Chapter. He was the founder President of the Qatar Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. He is also a Founding member of Qatar Chapter of the Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a member of Qatar University’s Scientific Accounting Association for research and study on accounting issues in Qatar and for career counseling for Internal Audit profession. An active Toastmaster for over a decade, CA Rajeswar has taken up several leadership roles and is the Immediate past Division E Governor. |
Kurian Kuriakose is a Chartered Accountant with over 21 years of experience in the field of Audit, Internal Audit, Finance, Accounting, Law and Management. He is the Managing Partner for Sohila & Kuriakose in Qatar. He also holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Bradford in UK. He is also a Certified Information System Auditor. |
Mr. Kuriakose has extensive experience working for Multinational companies like Emirates Airlines, Air India and Budget Rent A Car. His rich work experience is complemented with strong multi-cultural business exposures gained through extensive travel through more than 50 countries across the world from North America in the West, China in the North, New Zealand in the East and South Africa in the South. A professional with in-depth knowledge and experience; his core areas of expertise include Mergers, Acquisitions and feasibility analysis, Risk profiling – measurement and management apart from Operational, Commercial Internal audits and proprietary audits. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Qatar Chapter. |

Valiyakath Sheji is a Chartered Accountant and works as the Group Finance Manager of Dlala Holding. He is also a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Management Accountant. He is currently Secretary of the Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of India (Qatar Chapter). |
