Junior Leaders inducted at DPS-MIS (Investiture Ceremony-2009)

Text Box: DPS-Modern Indian School young leaders from the Junior School took charge to lead the Students’ Council, Directors of various activities and the Prefectorial Body for the four Houses ROSE, LILY, LOTUS and TULIP. The selection was made after long, strenuous and meticulous discussions and interviews with the Principal and School officials. The programme was held at a grand Investiture Ceremony held in the school’s Pearl Hall.
The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Ms. Vani Saraswathi, Managing Editor of Oryx Advertising Company, Doha and Guest of Honour Mr. Joseph Varghese journalist-Qatar Tribune. The programme began with recitation from the Glorious Quran and its translation. The school choir rendered songs while Headmistress Ms. Vinaya Jaydev welcomed the distinguished guests.  Also present for the occasion were senior Vice President (DPS-MIS) Mr. Yasir Nainar, Vice President (DPS-MIS) Mr. Rocky Fernandes, Joint Treasurer (DPS- MIS) Mr.Azeem Abbas, Joint Secretary (DPS-MIS) Mr. Harish Kanjani, Principal Ms. S Mattu, Activity Coordinators Ms. Sarabjit Kaur and Ms. Jaishree, parents, students and school officials.
Ms. Vani and Mr. Joseph, Former Head Boy Russel Mendonca and Head Girl Athira Justin took turns to administer the oath and adorned the newly appointed leaders with Badges.
Former Head Boy Russel and Head Girl Athira thanked the School for placing untold trust in them, while newly appointed Head Boy Rithwick Varier shared views on ‘true leadership as a shining example, inspiration and responsibility’ of students entrusted to his care. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi,’ ‘We must become the change we want to see,’ he said. Newly appointed Head Girl Samyukta Prabhu expressed immense excitement. ‘It is a moment to be captured in my heart’, she said, and assured to faithfully take up the responsibility of carrying high the DPS-MIS flag with a difference and never to let anyone down. Chief Guest Ms. Vani congratulated the new appointees and exhorted them never to undermine the abilities in them.  It was a moment of vivid memories for Mr. Varghese, “curiosity and the need to unravel the mystery of what is behind anything will take one to greater heights”, he said.
House wardens Ms. Jolly, Ms. Suhaila, Ms. Shivani Sarin and Ms. Anjali Pandita took charge of the newly appointed Prefectorial Body.
Outgoing student and second School Topper Arpan Saha was felicitated for securing an excellent rank -1244th in the recent IIT-JEE Exams, a rare achievement for Indian students in Qatar.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Jaishree followed by a fusion dance.
