Interschool Mathemagic-2007

 

The School made headlines as winners of the top position in Interschool Mathemagic – 2007!

The school team represented by Antony George (IXC), S. Nikhilesh (IXC), Shaishav Mayur Shah (VIIIA), Akshata Ramakrishna Prabhu (VIIIB), along with Abhipray Sahoo (VIIIB) and Prashant Somanathan (IXB) as standby participated in Interschool Mathemagic – 2007, held in Al Khor International School (Indian Stream) along with eleven other schools.

The School won the Interschool Mathemagic – 2007 with a whooping 192 points. The winners received a trophy and certificate of merit each and lifted the roll-over Trophy for the School.

 

CBSE Group Mathematical Olympiad  :2007 -08

10th National Science Olympiad:2007 – 08  (class III to XII)

Out of 109 student participants. 7 students were declared Topper Medal winners.

Prabhu (III), Russell Mendonca (IVSiddharth Jaya Prakash (V) Nandini Varmi (VI), Sarthak Bansal (VII),), Aditya Suresh Menon (VIII), Prashanth Somanathan (IX). 13 students were selected for the Second Level Exam The All India Rank holders for the 2nd level exam were: Samyukta R. Prabhu (127), Russell Menconca (30), Priya Surendran(82),Mrinalini B Mahesh (649), Siddharth Jayaprakash (266), Nandini Varma (591),Sarthak Bansal(473) Shaishav M. PCM  Examination :2007-08 – class Nursery to VII)

A total number of 466 students participated in the examinations. The results are as follows:

Anagha Ann Gopakumar (VIIB) received Grade A1 with a scholarship, silver medal and a cash award of INR 701.

Grade A2- with scholarship silver medal (14 students), each received a cash award of INR 201.

Pre-CS Examination : 2007 -08 (class VIII to XII)

Shaishav Mayur Shah of class VIIIA was declared Topper II and awarded a cash award of 1500 INRs. 26 students received First class certificates.

 

15th Gulf Mathematic Olympiad (class X to XII)

A total number of 59 students participated in it and the results are as follows: 9 students of class X received A2 Grade (85-94%), 8 students received A3 Grade (75-84%), and 10 students received B1 Grade (60-74%), 4 students received B2 Grade (50-59%). In class XII, 2 students received A3 Grade, 10 students received B1 Grade, and 9 students received B2 Grade.

 

Global Achieve Examination – ACER Students from the Junior and Senior Wing participated in Global Achieve Examination 2007, conducted by ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research Limited). The Award for Excellence in Global Achieve acknowledges students who scored the highest marks in each grade level in English, Maths and Science and includes a cash award to recognize and reward their effort and encourage them to continue to excel in their academic life. Vishal Surendran (class IIIA) received a cash award of QR 500.00 for his performance in Science, Russell Mendonca (IVA) received  QR 500.00 for excellent performance in Mathematics and QR 250.00 for Science, Shlok Kulshrestha (IVA) received QR 250.00 for Science, Priyal Surendran (VA) received QR 166.50 for English, Samridhi Bansal (VB) received QR 166.50 for English, Siddharth Jayaprakash (VB) received QR 166.50 for English, Shaishav Mayur Shah (VIIIA) received QR 500.00 each for excellent performance in Mathematics and Science. Aditya Suresh Menon  received QR 500 for Science and Nikhilesh S (IXC) received Qr. 500 for Mathematics.  31 students were honoured with certificates of Distinction. ‘Sastra Pratibha Contest – 2007 -08’

A large number of students from DPS-Modern Indian School participated in ‘Sastra Pratibha Contest–2008’, a Science Talent Search Examination, organized by Samanvayam and conducted among students of Indian School.

This is being conducted in coordination with Vijnana Bharati, the recipient of prestigious national awards for the years 2005 and 2006, including the ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Award’ for the propagation of science in India.

The following students declared as ‘Sastra Pratibhas’ are K. Vineel Chowdary (class IX), Snigdha Kamal and Akshata Prabhu (class VIII), Anagha Ann Gopakumar (class VII) and Nandini Varma (class VI), while the outstanding performers are Md. Aamir Shams and Aditya Suresh Menon (class VIII).

AISSTA Examination : 2007 -08 (class I to IX)

135 students participated in it. 11 students secured 90% and above received a silver medal and certificate each. They are: (class I)  Aarya Dinesh, Harini Prabhakar, Aravind Narayan, Aadharsh Roshan, Samreen Sathar, Neelima Jestin, (class II) : Aniruddha Redkar, Shubhra Bedi, Satyam Binayak Dash, Nikil Roashan and Priya Surendran from class V.

AISTMA EXAMINATION : 2007 - 08 (class I to IX)

140 students took the Examination. 14 students secured 90% and above received a silver medal and certificate each. Out of 59 student participants, Russell Mendonca (IVA) was placed 3rd in All India Rank. He received a Gold medal and a Scholarship of Rs. 2,000 per annum for 3 years, a Britannica Concise Encyclopaedia CD pack worth Rs. 995, a free subscription to services of 24x7 guru.com Rs. 1000,  a memento and a certificate while Shaishav Mayur Shah was positioned 85th in All India Rank. A total number of 768 student participants took the exams in G.K., Maths, and Science. 2 students secured 100% and awarded Shields. 137 students secured 90% and received a certificate and silver medal each. International Mathematic Olympiad (IMO) Science Olympiad Foundation : 2007 - 08

50 students participated in it. Shaishav Shah (VIIIA), was declared the school Topper and awarded 3rd International Rank. He received a PC, a bronze medal and one-way air ticket to India. The other  school Toppers were Varun Nagarajan (VII) also declared 446 International Rank, Anupama Menon (V) (International Rank ), Russell Mendonca (IV) 828 International Rank, Samyukta R. Prabhu (III) 251 All India Rank and S Nikil Roashan (II) International Rank

 

ASSET Examination : 2007 - 08 (class III to IX)

180 students participated in English, Maths and Science exam. 3 students were recognized for outstanding performance in English, 4 students in Maths and 4 in Science too. In English, Anagha Ann Gopakumar, Dhanajay Kamat and Akshata R. Prabhu. In Maths, Russell Mendonca, Varun Nagarajan, Aditya Suresh Menon and Shaishav Mayur Shah. In Science, Samridhi Bansal, Anagha Gopakumar, Aditya Suresh Menon and Shaishav Mayur Shah. The following students were awarded for over-all performance : Samyukta R. Theta Qatar Maths competition: 2007 - 08

Students participated in Theta Qatar Maths competition held recently at Wajba Preparatory Independent School. Students participated in the Individual and Group category. The competitions comprised of SAT and TIMMS questions and mental Maths.

 

In the individual category, the school team competed with students from Al Jazeera Academy, Qatar International School, Omar Bin Al-Khattab, Hamza Prep Ind. School, Muaither Prep Ind. School and Al-Wajba. The team won the first, second and third position. The winners are as follows: Prashanth Somanathan(class IX) got the 1st position and received a cash award of QR 1000, Aashik Ranjith Sekharan received QR 750 for the second position and Abhipray Sahoo received QR 500 for the third place. They also received a certificate each.

 

In the Group category, the team represented by Anthony George, S. Nikhilesh (class IX), Shaishav Mayur Shah and Akshata Ramakrishna Prabhu (class VIII), faced a tough competition with teams from various schools – Hamza Prep Ind. School, Muaither Prep Ind. School, Al Bayan Prep Ind School,The English Modern School, Al Jazeera Academy, Al Ahnaf Bin Gais Prep, Omar Bin Al-Khattab, Qatar International School, AED, and Alwajba Prep. DPS-MIS team worked through successfully to bag the First Position. The team was awarded with a cash prize of QR 3,500, a certificate each and a Trophy. The teams worked under the support and guidance of Mr. N.K. Arunachalam.
