DPS-MIS Topper (Class X
CBSE Results)
DPS-Modern Indian School student from the Xth standard, master
Govind Haridas has been honoured by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary
Education) for being among the top 0.1 percent of successful candidates
in the Science and Technology Exam, where he secured 100 on 100.
The Board awarded him a certificate of Merit as recognition for
his outstanding performance in the exam.

Bazm-e-Alig English Debate
Competition:
DPS-Modern Indian School students participated in Bazm-e-Alig (interschool)
English debate competition held on September 22, 2006 at Al Fardan
Centre.
The topic for the juniors category was SUCCESS IN LIFE: EDUCATIONAL
QUALIFICATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN KNOWLEDGE, while the topic
for the seniors category was EXPLOSION OF INFORMATION: DO WE NEED
SCHOOLS ANY MORE?
Students from the juniors category Abhirami Appukuttan and Akshata
Prabhu (class VII) impressed the audience with their eloquent speeches
and bagged the First and Second Position. They were awarded a Trophy
each.

TENNIS STAR
participated and won many trophies in both International as well
as National Level Tournament for the year 2006-2007. Such as :
* Participated in Dubai Open
* Reaches Top eight in Egypt tour (participated in two tournaments
and she played 22 matches.
* Bagged Third Place in All Goa First Ladies Open Tennis Tournament
held in Goa.
* Winner CBSE Qatar Cluster Tennis Tournament.
* Winner CBSE Gulf Zone Tennis Tournament, held in Dubai.

Anagha Ann Gopakumar, a DPS-MIS
student of class 6 has received the Action for Nature’s International
Young Eco-Hero Award, 2006 with a third position amongst 65 entries
from the US and other countries.
Action for Nature, (AFN) is an environmental conservation organisation
based in San Fransisco, USA which promotes new ideas in the area of
environmental conservation and facilitates and encourages the participation
of young people in the environmental protection projects throughout
the world.
She received a cash award of $300, a certificate membership to Jane
Good wall’s Roots and Shoots Institute and a chance to attend
the annual Bioneers environmental conference. Also, a Press cutting
regarding Anagha’s award, was published in American Newspaper
“INDIA-WEST”.
She was selected for her project on Rainwater Harvesting. She created
a system for collecting rain water to help farmers during the annual
dry spell. After doing research through reading, internet and discussion
with her parents she developed the project. She did her project on
Rainwater Harvesting when she was in Kerala last year. |

Quiz competition on Science and Technology Heritage
of India
DPS- Modern Indian School students from the Junior and senior category
participated participated in a quiz competition on “Science
and Technology Heritage of India” organised by SAMANYAM and
won the First position in both the categories.
In the Junior category, the participants were Akshatha Ramakrisna
Prabhu, Shaishav Mayur Shah and Anagha Ann Gopakumar from Class
VII.

DPS-Modern Indian School Geetika Saksena from class VIII, the only
girl participant from Gulf Zone, in under 14 Girls Individual category
reached Semi-final in CBSE Table Tennis Nationals held in Mumbai
recently

DPS-Modern Indian School student Lavin Steve of class IX participated
in a Recitation on ‘EVILS OF SMOKING’ organized by the
Anti Smoking Society, Doha –Qatar recently and secured the First
Position. |
DPS-MIS Kid wins ‘Summer Look Champion 2006’
DPS-Modern Indian School student Parag Bajaj won the Trophy of ‘Summer
Look 2006’, organized by McDonalds, Qatar for the age group
(7-12) years for the best talent in dancing, elocution and stage
performance. Participants were from various nationalities and a
panel of five Judges selected the winner.

Children bag Third Position in 10th IWA Inter school
quiz contest – 2006
DPS-Modern Indian School Students participated in the IWA inter
School Quiz Contest preliminary round and were selected for the
final round. Gabriel Thomas (VIII) and Shaishav Mayur Shah (VII)
represented the school and stood Third with a score of 45 points

DPS girl gets a Bronze in CBSE zonals Swimming Competition
DPS Modern Indian School participated in the CBSE zonal swimming
competition at Abu Dhabi Indian School, Abu Dhabi recently.
Four students (Shubha Ramakrishnan of VIII A, Naintara Viswanathan
of VIII, Aditya Dagar of IX and Sandeep Vasudevan of XII) represented
the school. Shubha Ramakrishnan won the bronze medal in the 50m
butterfly stroke (under 14) category. |

Qatar National Squad in Cricket for ACC U-15 Challenge Cup held
