Proud moment for DPS MIS as DPSMUNers excels in the prestigious 4th International AMUN conference in New York USA 2025
Once again eleven DPSMUN enthusiasts from grades 9 to 11 of DPS-Modern Indian School, Doha—Diya Varghese, Rinishkumar Pazhanikumar, Annamalai Alagappan, Muhammad Aqeel, Syed Ammar, Ian Phillip, Taheem Naadir, Zaynab Salim Kutty, Bivin Sabu, Vidhi Jadav, and Saisha Varma—had the unique opportunity to travel to New York to attend the fourth edition of the internationally renowned, Altitude Model United Nations (MUN) in partnership with Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc., held from 7th to 13th April 2025-26. This prestigious event brought together bright minds from around the world from 16 countries, and the DPS-Modern Indian School delegation showcased exceptional skill, diplomacy, and leadership throughout the sessions.
During the competition, the students participated in intense debates, negotiations, and resolutions on a variety of global issues, representing different countries and working to build consensus in committees -UNEP,UNHRC, GA1, UNSC and WHO in aligning with the theme , ‘Stand together for peace’ . Their efforts were met with remarkable success, earning them numerous accolades. Vidhi Jadav and Saisha Varma were awarded the Best Improvement Award for their impressive development and outstanding performances throughout the conference, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to growth. At the same time, Diya Varghese and Zaynab Salim Kutty were honored with the Best Diplomacy Award, recognizing their exemplary skills in negotiation, collaboration, and their ability to foster diplomatic solutions, contributing significantly to their committees’ success.
Beyond the intellectual and academic rigor of the MUN, the students also embraced the opportunity to explore the dynamic and culturally rich city of New York. From iconic landmarks like Summit One Observatory, 9/11 Memorial-The Oculus, St. Peter’s Cathedral, Grand Central station, Rockefeller Center and the Statue of Liberty to experiencing the vibrant energy of the city's diverse neighborhoods-Times square and China town, the students gained a broader perspective of the world.They also enriched their knowledge by visiting The New School, UN Headquarters, New York Public Library and the American Historic Museum. Amidst the busy conference days they found time to relax by watching the Broadway show-Michael Jackson.This blend of academic achievement and cultural exploration allowed the students to broaden their horizons, making the trip a truly unforgettable experience.
The trip to New York was a remarkable blend of education, culture, and personal growth, providing the students with memories and experiences that will continue to shape their future endeavors.
