Positive Qatar A Student Led GAIA Initiative Supportinh Sustainable Health and Community Well Being 2025-26

Empowered by global citizenship and social responsibility, students of DPS–Modern Indian School, Doha, took a proactive step by launching POSITIVE Qatar as part of the GAIA initiative organized by THIMUN, Qatar. This student-led initiative was designed to address vitamin D deficiency and promote healthier lifestyle practices within the community. Guided by the school leadership and teachers, the initiative combined awareness with action, reaching over 500 students, alumni, and community members.

Driven by a team of eight students (Aarav Singh (XI-A), Devam Liya (XI-A), Akhilesh Samantaray (XI-A), Pranay Bhatia (XI-A), Aaron Sudheendran (XI-B), Imaad Hussain (XI-B), Saara Bhardwaj (XI-C), and Nandini Pathak (XI-L), POSITIVE Qatar promotes balanced lifestyle choices through a gamified, digital-first approach designed to help participants convert health awareness into sustainable daily habits.

The initiative began with an interactive workshop for Grade IX students and expanded through a sports-edition alumni meet, engaging more than 160 alumni.

Community outreach was carried out at MIA Park, where 200 awareness pamphlets on vitamin D, safe sun exposure, and wellbeing were distributed. To strengthen scientific credibility, the team also organized an online session with a certified dermatologist, providing expert guidance on skin health and responsible sunlight exposure.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 3 and SDG 11—POSITIVE Qatar stands as a testament to the GAIA Initiative’s role in empowering students to convert knowledge into meaningful, scalable community impact.
