DPS-Modern Indian School conducted the 6th edition of
TEDxYouth@DPSMIS on 5th November 2020. With the inability to host the
event physically due to lockdown restrictions, the event was translated
to an online setting as a live premiere was streamed on the TEDxYouthDPS
Youtube Channel. It was the first-ever pre-recorded online event with an
unlimited-access to audience as opposed to the 100 participant limit in
the previous years. |
The event featured five speakers who shared their crucial life
experiences revolving around the theme “Addressing Adversity.” The first
speaker, Jose Saucedo, an environmentalist, discussed about prevailing
plastic pollution and his efforts in hosting large beach clean-ups. The
second speaker, Ahmed Hikal, a life coach and travel enthusiast,
reflected upon a tragic home accident and emphasized loyalty and true
mentorship. The third speaker, Jann Carlo Rojas, a renowned
communication specialist, in his speech, highlighted the importance of
enjoying the process and shared stories of the T’Boli tribe of The
Philippines - the dream weavers. The fourth speaker Kummam Al Maadeed, ,
a novelist by passion, shed light on winning her battle against
depression’ and inspired the young minds to stand tall, adapt and
overcome all odds. Finally, Nisha Shivram, a toastmaster, talked about
her initiative of sharing extraordinary life stories in order to empower
people and bring about a positive change around. ‘Embrace your
imperfections and lead an impactful life’ were her inspiring words.
TEDxYouth@DPSMIS continues to be the longest-running youth event and is
a paradigm of the school's efforts in enriching young minds with
curiosity, inspiration, and real-world experiences. |
