Alumnus Janisha Shaikh Returns to her Alma Mater

DPS Modern Indian School Alumnus Janisha Shaikh, from the Batch 2020, has successfully completed her 10-day Internship Programme from May 8th to May 22nd, 2023. "The Teaching Internship Programme" is an initiative by the school which assists alumni in giving back to their institution.

Janisha was assigned to teach Class VII Science, covering various topics related to the field of Biology. To enhance teaching lessons, she used power-point presentations and pre and post-lesson activities, incorporating the knowledge she gained from her education at the University of British Columbia.
"It was extremely rewarding to get an opportunity to give back to my alma mater of 7 years. This experience was an eye-opener as it allowed me to see the other side of the school, where I was now in the role of a teacher instead of a student. Throughout my time there, it was very fulfilling to witness students interact with me both inside and outside of class. This experience has taught me invaluable skills that I will continue to utilise throughout my life" commented Janisha.

Alumnus Sarthak Modi Shared His Experience In Interning At The Alumnitalk
Sarthak Modi, an alumnus from the batch 2020 returned to his alma mater on 26th March via the AlumniTalk. The alumnus took a motivating and inspiring session on ‘Crunching the Numbers on Internships’. In this session held via zoom, Sarthak shared his experience in internships with the students of his alma mater.
Currently working on his degree in mechanical engineering at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, he has endowed his portfolio with a colourful array of accomplishments as an intern.

DPS-MIS ALUMNAE DEVIKA RAJEEV WHO IS WORKING AT THE UN AT ALUMNITALK SHARES HERE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 2021-22

Ms. Devika Rajeev from the batch of 2010 talked at ‘AlumniTalk’ on 9th of March 2022, on the topic “Paving the way to success through Commerce”. The event started with the welcome address of the Principal and the Vice-Principals.
Ms. Devika shared her success story with the current students and explained how choosing commerce in high school opened up doors of opportunities for her. She got her undergraduate and MBA degree from Symbiosis Pune. She went to the international university of Geneva to pursue a Masters in Trade Policy to achieve her dream of working at the UN.

Service Before Self

"Fahad Ahmad Khan, former DPS-MIS student, has been a part of Qatar Foundation’s Afghan Refugee Volunteering Program.
Qatar Foundation called upon volunteers to assist the evacuated Afghan Refugees housed and cared in different compounds across Qatar. As a member of the volunteering program, Fahad interacted with refugees, with the purpose of comforting and supporting them, while they were away from home due to the unfolding humanitarian crisis. Volunteers from all walks of life combined their efforts to create a sense of normalcy and a more accepting environment for the vulnerable, unaccompanied Afghan children and adolescents.

'A hand to hold'
This portrait portrays an incredible junior doctor, Faid, who works in the Covid Assessment ward. A few days before Christmas this year, I had to return to hospital for a shorter stay than earlier in December. This time I was placed in the Covid assessment ward, before having other scans and procedures, as some symptoms I had overlapped with those of the virus. It was 22nd December, only 3 days before Christmas, and due to the circumstances, this time I was in a side room alone.

On 1st and 8th April eleven Junior debaters from DPS Modern Indian School along with their coach, Ms. Jaya Majumder attended a workshop on ‘Motion Preparation’ conducted by Qatar Debate.   VATSAL PATEL ALUMUS 2014 BATCH INTERACTS VIRTUALLY ON ROBOTICS WITH CURRENT GRADE IX-XII STUDENTS - 2020-21 
  DPS Modern Indian School Alumni Association organised an Alumni Interaction Programme on 15th July 2020 when alumnus Vatsal Patel (Batch 2014) had a live interaction session. The event was attended by the Vice President Mr. Yasir Nainar , Principal Ms. Asna Nafees, Vice Principals Ms. Soma Bhattacharjee and Ms. Mary Cruz along with all coordinators and team of teachers. The participants of the programme were students from IX-XII.
After completing graduation and masters from the University of California, Berkeley, currently, Vatsal is pursuing his PhD at Yale University in mechanical engineering mainly focused on robotics.

  Alumnus Vatsal Patel enlightens current senior school children  
Vatsal Patel, the Head Boy and school topper of Batch 2013, proved his love and loyalty to his alma mater when he contributed his time to enlighten the aspiring students of classes 11 and 12 on the admission procedures in the universities of the US. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

The video conference with Vatsal was an eye-opener about the US curriculum. A world of opportunities with the best faculty and resources, the universities let you pursue the subjects that interest you. Moreover, they let you get involved in clubs and organisations as your interests, schedule, and scholastic pursuits permit. His interaction threw light on the fact that scoring in the school exams is equally important as participating in extra-curricular activities.

  Raj pays back to his Alma Mater  
  The best way to give back to your institution as an active member of its alumni, is by working there.

Rajvardhan Singh, our student of 2013 batch, came to DPS to teach English. This was organized by the Alumni Committee with the aim of encouraging and fostering the talent of teaching and providing an opportunity to interact with the current students.
 
Raj’s explanation of the reader, was a pleasure to listen to with perfectly structured sentences. All were impressed at how seamlessly he had explained the characters and the complexities. He captured the moral and the theme accurately. He conducted a small activity with a few simple props to make the lesson interactive and interesting. At the end of the lesson, he had an interactive question and answer session, tackled confidently and with poise.

3RD ALUMNI MEET AT DPS MODERN INDIAN SCHOOL (2016)

  The 3rd Alumni Meet was held on December 22, 2016, in DPS-Modern Indian School, providing an opportunity for old students and teachers to reunite. The event, which took place in the school premises, was attended by around 150 alumni who had flown down from India, UAE, Bahrain, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.

The evening officially began with a welcome note from the anchors Vinutha Ramodorai and Nikita Navneeth and was followed by a dance that had the crowd cheering. The Head Girl, Nayana Singh, graciously welcomed the alumni. A video montage with video clips and pictures from the past was then displayed evoking feelings of nostalgia in the audience. The students from grades 9, 10 and 11 entertained the alumni with their dances and songs.

    2nd Alumni Meet 2015   
  The 2nd Alumni meet of DPS-Modern Indian School was a huge success with approximately more than 120 old students attended the event. The event was held at DPS –Modern Indian School. Members of Management and Principal interacted with alumni. The members of alumni association were sworn in. Alumni from all over the world shared their experience with the current students of Grade XII .The Alumni association unveiled their future plan. The event closed on a happy note with dinner.
